In part two of our Jahorina Travel Series we will explore the main Ski Center of this mountain which is the most prominent draw for many tourists. It is right here that you will find most of the hotels, ski lifts, restaurants and other happenings. As you could see from part one, we had a very beautiful day in the mountains and the blue skies kept lingering for the rest of the day. I hope you will enjoy the continuation of our stay here.
This is a two-part travel series:
Part One: Visiting the Olympic Mountain Jahorina
Part Two: Visiting the Olympic Mountain Jahorina
Before we reached the ski center I took a few lonesome shots of cottages in the woods, snow covered mountain peeks and woods that seemed to endlessly drift towards the horizon. There a few hotels here, the most prominent being Hotel Vucko, but there is also Hotel Termag (where we had brunch). Today, the mountain is a winter resort ideal for both beginner and intermediate skiers offering over 20 km of skiing slopes, six ski lifts, six cable-cars and two recently built six-seater ski lifts. It is ideal for snowboarding as well. The tallest peak of Mountain Jahorina is Ogorjelica at 1916 m (6200 feet).
We ate a cold platter in Hotel Termag. They had a really great selection of sausages, meats, cheese and bread. We ate there with amazing views of the surrounding slopes.
Outside of Hotel Termag you can find the main hub of activity. The ski center is usually full of people on weekends and when there is fresh snow like on the day we visited. We made our way through the crowds and actually had to be careful since people are rushing about on all sides.
Before we departed I had to make sure to grab a shot of the Olympic logo which is located right at the entrance to the ski resort. I took a few last shots of the surroundings before we drove back to Sarajevo, just as the sun was starting to set.
The End
